I’m also testing out my Pinterest buttons. Feel free to pin away at any images I post on my blog! Pinterest is still one of my favorite sites and I really want to help show off some of the beautiful people we’ve had the honor to photograph!

I always tell clients to stay true to themselves and their personalities. Don’t wear something that a friend would see you in and wonder what you were thinking. Mix colors and styles and patterns for texture and you can’t go wrong.

My sister and I recently coordinated a shoot with 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren in our family for my mom for Christmas. It was not easy! So to help everyone out I created a styleboard in the colors we had chosen: purple, teal and yellow. Keeping in mind that this styleboard is for kids under the age of 10, you can translate them into styles for adults as well. I loved how it turned out and hope you can get some inspiration from it!

Now the resulting picture was much more difficult than we had envisioned. We had perfect sunny weather for a week leading up to the shoot and then the night before our scheduled day a cold front blew in leaving us with 30 degree temps and very cold, very frustrated babies! I think it’s still adorable!

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank each and every one of my clients. Many of you have been with me since the very beginning and I’m thrilled to get to photograph your families every year. Everything started back in 2008 when my friend Julie asked me to take pictures of her family before her husband was deployed to Iraq with the National Guard. I had taken some pictures of my kids and some family members before that, but she was the first person to ask me to photograph her family. From there everything snowballed into this great little business I’ve been so blessed to have.

So thank you, Julie, for being my first client!

And thank you to each and every one of you who has trusted me to photograph your children, your families, your wedding, your pets over the years! I am truly grateful for you and your faith in me and John. We have the most amazing clients and are privileged to meet the most amazing people and we love all of you!

Our little girl is amazing. She’s always happy, she loves her big brother, sleeps like a dream, she has a double cowlick like her dad, she has beautiful grayish blue eyes with a brown ring around the center, she gives us hugs and kisses, steals all my necklaces out of my bathroom drawer, mimics every sound we make, and LOVES to dance. And come on, isn’t she CUTE?

We’ve had a few family sessions, but we’re keeping our summer light. My oldest starts school this year so we’re enjoying our time staying at home, keeping cool in our own house! We have a wedding coming up this weekend and I’ll do my best to blog some of my most recent sessions, including doing some promo work for a music producer, something completely new to me!

I’ve also been spending unhealthy amounts of time on Pinterest. it’s possibly the most clever website created in a very long time and for an internet filled with amazing stuff, that says a lot.
