What to Wear

One of the most often asked questions when I book a session is “What should we wear?” It’s an overwhelming thing, to coordinate outfits for a number of people that will all end up looking cohesive, while staying comfortable.

I always tell clients to stay true to themselves and their personalities. Don’t wear something that a friend would see you in and wonder what you were thinking. Mix colors and styles and patterns for texture and you can’t go wrong.

My sister and I recently coordinated a shoot with 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren in our family for my mom for Christmas. It was not easy! So to help everyone out I created a styleboard in the colors we had chosen: purple, teal and yellow. Keeping in mind that this styleboard is for kids under the age of 10, you can translate them into styles for adults as well. I loved how it turned out and hope you can get some inspiration from it!

Now the resulting picture was much more difficult than we had envisioned. We had perfect sunny weather for a week leading up to the shoot and then the night before our scheduled day a cold front blew in leaving us with 30 degree temps and very cold, very frustrated babies! I think it’s still adorable!

Thankful

I know most of you have probably thought I have fallen off the face of the planet! I assure you I’m here, busy as every, and loving it! I have been trying to stay updated on Facebook but I know I have neglected this blog of mine!

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank each and every one of my clients. Many of you have been with me since the very beginning and I’m thrilled to get to photograph your families every year. Everything started back in 2008 when my friend Julie asked me to take pictures of her family before her husband was deployed to Iraq with the National Guard. I had taken some pictures of my kids and some family members before that, but she was the first person to ask me to photograph her family. From there everything snowballed into this great little business I’ve been so blessed to have.

So thank you, Julie, for being my first client!

And thank you to each and every one of you who has trusted me to photograph your children, your families, your wedding, your pets over the years! I am truly grateful for you and your faith in me and John. We have the most amazing clients and are privileged to meet the most amazing people and we love all of you!

As a side note, we are hosting some Last Minute Mini Sessions in downtown Fort Worth this weekend (Saturday the 26th)! $100 for a 20-minute session and 7-10 digital files. Refer a friend and receive $20 off your session! If you are interested in joining us to capture those family pictures before Christmas please email me or leave me a comment!

You are very welcome! I was just so happy that you said yes :)
And I’m so excited for you to photograph Kara’s wedding next month!

Cousins

Last month my sister celebrated her 50th birthday! As a last minute gift to her I did a quick session with her 3 grandkids. We spent about 15 minutes on an extremely hot Saturday morning before her surprise party to get these ready for her, but she was thrilled. I love my sister and her family and was really happy to be able to take them for her.

Oh my goodness: Kenny’s baby looks just like him!!!

Custom Disc Cases

I’m fortunate to have amazing clients and want to provide them with the best products out there to showcase their images. For every disc purchase from your session you will receive all of your images in these beautiful custom disc cases. This is one of my favorite products and I have ordered many of them, all with their own unique design. I got a package with this one in it a couple of weeks ago and it became my new favorite! I made sure to photograph it before mailing off the disc to the client since I don’t always have time to photograph all the things I order. The mom loved the design and I was so proud to send it to them.

Shelby Turned 1

Back in April my baby girl turned ONE! She’s now 15 months and I did finally get around to taking her 1 year pics a month or so ago while location scouting for a family shoot. My brilliant idea of taking pics of her around 8pm (mostly due to the fact that we ended up getting stuck in traffic on our way to the location) didn’t work out as well as I had hoped. That’s life when you’re photographing a one-year old!

Our little girl is amazing. She’s always happy, she loves her big brother, sleeps like a dream, she has a double cowlick like her dad, she has beautiful grayish blue eyes with a brown ring around the center, she gives us hugs and kisses, steals all my necklaces out of my bathroom drawer, mimics every sound we make, and LOVES to dance. And come on, isn’t she CUTE?
